Waxing Rhapsodic During an Investigation

$200.00

22 inches x 17 inches

Hand signed and numbered. Edition of 125 Giclee prints using archival inks
on 100% acid free Hahnemühle Etching Paper

When I began drawing these narrative still lifes my intention was to be as free as I could be. The charcoals are large (29 x 41 inches). I would either set up a scene or use a natural setup that was around my studio. There is no preliminary drawing, no underdrawing, no sketches before making the charcoal, and no erasing. In this piece, titled "Waxing Rhapsodic During an Investigation" I had actually set up 4 place settings (I own a lot of tea cups). I drew the first cup way too big and immediately realized that I would never fit all the cups in. That was one of the nice surprises of this piece. It didn't bother me; I just went with it.
