Many of my narrative still lifes came from actual table settings, not set ups. For this piece I had purchased some comic books and was reading them at my drawing table. I thought it would be fun to draw from the comic book. I picked up a legal pad and began drawing the sexy Psylocke. After just a few minutes I realized that whole scene was much more interesting than just the one character so I left the table exactly as it was and pulled up an easel with a large sheet of Arches cover (about 3 x 3 feet), taped to plywood, and began drawing the entire table with color pencils. This one might have taken an entire week to complete.
